Our Story
My father taught methis trade.He was never therefor a single lesson.
Everything on this page is true. It is also the only reason this brand exists.
It started with belts.
In the late nineties my father bought leather goods and sold them on to retailers. Belts first, then wallets, then whatever small pieces he could get his hands on. He was not a designer. He was a man learning which leather came back and which one did not.
A few years of that taught him more than a course would have. So he stopped selling other people's work and started making his own. Jackets to begin with, then belts, then wallets.
He put his own name on the label and called it Luxora Leather.
He never sold a single piece outside his own city. He was building the thing you build before you build the real one.
Then it stopped.
He died while I was still a child. Too young to be taught anything, old enough to remember the workshop and the way it smelled.
The brand closed with him. No handover, no notebook of suppliers, no last conversation about what he had been trying to build. For years the only thing left of it was a name that nobody outside our family had ever heard.
I learned it from the outside in.
As a teenager I decided I wanted to understand what he had been doing. There was nobody to ask, so I did it the slow way. Grades of leather. Why full grain behaves differently from the split beneath it. How a hide is laid out before it is cut. Why a shoulder seam placed half an inch wrong ruins a jacket that is otherwise perfect.
Years of reading, handling, getting it wrong, and asking people in the trade questions they thought were obvious.
You can teach yourself leather. You cannot teach yourself why it mattered to him. That part I had to work out on my own.
This is not my legacy.
It is his.
I opened it again, for the market he never reached.
In 2024 the brand went back on. Not in one city this time, but online and worldwide, selling to the customer he was never able to sell to.
I kept the sound of his name and changed its shape. Everything else about the way it is made, I had to build from nothing.
What you are actually paying for.
The large houses sell full grain leather. So do we. The difference is what sits on top of the price. With them, a large part of it pays for the name on the label and everything that keeps that name in front of you.
We charge for the hide and the hours. Nothing is made before you order it, so nothing is cut to a size that suits an average nobody actually is.
Panels come out of the strong middle of a hide, never the thin belly. A small jacket might come from one hide. A larger one takes two or three, because the good area runs out before the pattern does. The weak leather gets left rather than patched in where it will not show for six months.
Illustrative, not audited figures. The point is where the money goes, not the exact split.
We are not for everyone.
Worth saying plainly, because the wrong customer costs us both money.
- If you need it this week, buy from a warehouse. Ours takes around nine days before it ships.
- If you want to wear it twice and move on, this is more jacket than the job needs.
- If price is the deciding factor, faux leather costs a fifth of this and looks fine for a season.
- If you have never measured your own chest, do that first. Two minutes saves everyone a return.
Who answers when you write.
A small team. When you send a message about your order, the person who replies can walk over and look at your jacket, because it is physically in the room. No ticket number, no script.
That is not a service policy written by a consultant. It is what happens when a brand is small enough that everyone knows what is on the bench.
He showed me the way inand then he was gone.
I picked it back up. What you buy from us is the second attempt at something he only got to start, and the standard is set by a man who is not here to be disappointed. That turns out to be a harder standard than any customer could set.
